Approaching Falcon Ridge...

Disconnect from gridlock and the noisy assaults of blurred expressway traffic... Gradually you will be settling into a quieter, slower rhythm, as you take your time to follow the rural hills of southwest Virginia leading toward Leesville Lake. "Total strangers" along the winding roads often smile and wave, simply reflecting the rural code of friendliness.
Weathered barns, shady-rocked creeks, and covered bridges share rolling meadows with grazing horses and ponies, cows tending new calves, and sheep with their lambs. Sprawling apple, pecan, and oak trees shadow buttercups and important purple "weeds" for dragon flies and grasshoppers to land on. Wild daisies, blue asters, red poppies, and pink phlox cluster beneath white fences. Soaring eagles, falcons and hawks, dabbling geese and ducks, monarch and swallowtail butterflies have already claimed the serenity of Leesville Lake--interrupted by splashes of the the bass escaping a fisherman's best cast.
In fall you can "stay home" and watch the aged forests display scarlet, salmon, and gold colored leaves just above your head...instead of driving bumper to bumper in a parade of tourists "chasing colors!" Winter brings sledding, snowboarding, and skiing at nearby resorts, along with cozy fireplace visiting, games, and crisp walks. Favorable conditions for tennis and golf prevail mostly year-round at nearby locations. Clean air and sparkling water surround you.
